The Orphans of Cathorna
"Come in, come in! Fair prices, fresh stock, fine wares from the Valley and beyond!"
Nedley owns and runs the general store, and has done so for the last thirty years. Now fifty five, he has seen much of Cathorna, and can recite the names of its leaders and councillors verbatim. With a much younger wife (Breeall, 27) and at least eight children (even he does not seem to know) in addition to a store to run, he is always busy. His store is supplied by the various crafters and gatherers in the village, as well as by occasional shipments of more exotic goods from the realms beyond. Generally well-liked, most people are willing to overlook his utter physical cowardice. At the first sign of trouble, he hustles his children into his cellar and bars the heavy door until it is safe to come out. His wife Breeall on the other hand is a capable if inexperienced swordswoman, and stands with the militia without hesitation.
The father of Altraam the young village acolyte, his life has been complicated by matters beyond his understanding when strangers have shown an interest in the boy.
